Raymond Verheijen is currently a very divisive character in world football. He is at the forefront of football (soccer) periodization and is making a lot of the status quo at the highest levels of the game very uncomfortable with his views on training/rest. As I am naturally drawn to divisive and controversial characters I started following his twitter (@raymondveerheije) for quite a while to get any info that might help me and youth soccer or futsal in Memphis. Not only does he give out some free info once an a while it’s a great insight into fitness and proper rest or improper rest as is the case with many of the absolute top teams in the world (see article on Arsenal and their consistent recurring injuries year after year). As a soccer or futsal coach or even fitness professional I’d definitely recommend him as a follow.

Here is a great article with his view on the Raheem Sterling/Roy Hodgson situation.

He has started his own business, World Football Academy, and gives coaching education seminars the world over. He is coming to the US to do a one day clinic in Philly and I really am trying to find a way to do this. See details below from the wfa website.
